É já longa a lista de gaffes do presidente norte-americano, George Bush e agora surgiu mais uma. Durante um discurso para justificar a política norte-americana no Iraque, Bush afirmou: «Mandela está morto, porque Saddam Hussein matou todos os Mandelas».
Segundo a Reuters, ninguém percebeu bem o que Bush queria realmente dizer, mas a gaffe caiu mal, sobretudo na África do Sul. Entretanto a Fundação Mandela achou por bem vir assegurar oficialmente que o militante histórico anti-apartheid «está vivo».
